Welcome to the  website of Parklands Surgery, a long established general medical practice on the west side of Chichester.

Latest News:

2010 – an important year:

Dr. Jim Price’s Sabbatical…and London Marathon Entry!!

Sabbatical

Patients of the practice will be aware that from time to time the partners take a sabbatical period of a few months in order to recharge the batteries and hopefully to return fully refreshed to the rigours of general practice! Dr. Margaret Orr took six weeks sabbatical earlier on this year for family reasons, and this notice is to announce that Dr. Jim Price will be taking six-month sabbatical away from the practice from January until June 2010.

Whilst this may be concerning for some of his patients, the good news is that we will have a top-class locum to cover him during that time: the doctor who has accepted the position is none other than Dr. Arabella Sargent, whom many of you will remember as having been a GP registrar at the practice in 2007/8. Arabella has had her second child, Max (a brother for Freddie), and is now ready to get back into the swing of general practice, having had some time off with her young family. She will be doing exactly the same hours as Dr. Price, namely all day on a Monday, Wednesday morning and Friday morning, and will cover for Dr. Shipsey’s patients when she is away.

London Marathon

During his sabbatical Dr. Price will be attempting to complete his Doctorate in Education at the University of Brighton, but will also be training for the London Marathon! At the age of 50, he has been offered a place through the general ballot for the big race in April next year, and will hope to emulate his junior partner Mary Campbell in raising lots of money for charity.

His chosen charity will be the Alzheimer’s Society — both his mother and grandmother have suffered from this awful condition for which there is no cure and which needs much more funding for research. Please do support Dr. Price in his marathon attempt, (www.justgiving.com/jimprice50/) and please also support Dr. Sargent in her locum tenens role from January until June 2010.

Any questions about continuity of care during Dr. Price’s sabbatical should be addressed to Mrs Sue Cristofoli, the Acting Practice Manager.

What would you like to do?

The practice is run from a newly extended, converted two storey detached house with its own car park, offering spacious, accessible treatment rooms and run by a committed team of doctors and healthcare practitioners. We have about 9500 patients on our list, and pride ourselves on high-quality, person-centred care.

Parklands has a strong educational ethos, and we are pleased to welcome medical students, as well as junior and more senior doctors in training roles for general practice.

This website is to guide you through the services, facilities and advice the practice offers. Many of these can also be accessed online – perhaps even avoiding the need to make a time consuming journey to the practice when all you need is a simple repeat prescription request or to find advice on a common heath related concern.

Please use the ‘drop-down’ menu above to explore the site. We welcome your comments on what we are offering and any suggestions on what else you would like to see.
